Recharging Cab A/C???

Good Morning All,

On our last trip out, the cab A/C started blowing hot air and I believe that it may be time to recharge it. I have a 2005 Revolution LE and was wondering does the cab A/C recharge similarly to a standard auto A/C? My son-in-law has recharged our auto A/C's and I really would like him to show me how it is done. Where is the A/C "guts" and does anyone know if he can purchase the same "cans" that he uses on the autos?

Any tips and hints would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

The A/C system in your Revolution is virtually identical to the average auto A/C and uses the same refrigerant. That said, there are several things that can cause today's A/C systems to loose cooling efficiency other than being low on refrigerant. I hope your son-in-law has the technical expertise and proper equipment to properly determine what is causing your loss of cooling.

Your question indicates you have meager knowledge of auto AC systems. That being the case, I would recommend you take it to a qualified specialist and make sure it is done right.

pretty easy to either get hurt (burst freon can) or destroy the compressor (too much freon or slugging the compressor with liquid). take it to a shop, or have someone who really knows what to do show you. better to take it to a shop.

A/C Update...

Just wanted to report that a mechanic friend (who is a 20 year RV owner) came to my home with his equipment. He and his mechanic/technician son tested my system and then recharged it and it is delightfully cold now...

Thanks for all your suggestions. Now on to our next destination...Northern Maine for canoeing...

Did you find out what caused the system to need a recharge? i.e. is there a leak? If so, you are OK if it was fixed - if not, maybe not so good.
