My refrig has developed an 8in. crack in the plastic lining on the inside of the refrig. It runs from the cooling fins straight down. would like some suggestions on how I can repair this before it gets worse

Any idea why it is cracking? Unless it's just a hairline, that's a severe crack and suggests that there is a severe strain on the unit. Is it very old? You might contact the manufacturer to see if they will stand behind it, or at least offer some idea about repair techniques.

I would be inclined to epoxy a patch over the crack, using fiberglass roving under the resin to tie the edges together. It ain't pretty (though you can paint it later) but it should be mechanically strong.

Another tip is to drill a small hole at the current end of the crack. This relieves the stress a bit right at the end and may prevent further spreading if the stress is not too great.

Be careful. There aren't any cooling tubes in the plastic walls themselves, but the tubes to the cooling fins are not far behind.

This type of thing happens on occasion and is a result of the foam insulation used. The problem is that when manufacured the foam amount was a little too great and since it expands there is an amount of pressure built up on the back side (in your case) of the liner. about the only thing you can do is to carefully do as RV Roamer suggests; drill a hole at the end of the crack. You can aquire a white vinyl tape to cover the crack to help hide it. If it is still in warranty contact the manufacturer and request it be taken care of. Even if it is out of warrranty they may send you the tape needed to cover up the crack.
