Refrigerator Issues I am about to give up

Replaced the board with a dinosaur one fridge works good

Fridge issues again

Added fans to the out side pushing air up the backside to cool off

Replaced Cooling unit with new one

Replaced Thermistor twice fixed it the first time

Removed and replaced seal looks good seals good

Freezer gets to zero degrees

Fridge 40 degress thats it

Whats left?? nothing!!!! all is new!!

I know exactly where you are. I did all of the above and you can throw in 2 Amish cooling units. One I replaced, and the second was done under warranty by a professional evaporative refrig guy in Tucson. Worked for about 3 months then on the way down from Alaska we had the freezer at about +15 and the refrig box at 70.

Solved the problem though. Threw the whole damn thing out and put in a residential. Super great now. I do have to be careful, as I can let the freezer get so cold that I CAN'T SERVE THE ICE CREAM.

Pigman1 - what model/make did you use? Did you do it yourself or hire it out?

I spent over 8 years trying to get my Norcold aka NotSoCold to work properly doing much the same as you. I nursed it until I was totally fed up while in Florida the past winter. There were 2 days that I remember where the freezer was around -3F or -4F in the morning but later in the day it would be 25F. Finally made the decision to install a Samsung RF197 fridge.

No regrets, best thing ever done to the coach.

what kind of rv do you have and what is the make and model of your fridge?
you can update your signature block with this info.
when you replaced the thermistor, which fin did you put it on?
it makes a difference where on the fin, higher or lower, the thermistor is mounted.
if you move the thermistor to the left or right it makes a difference.
do a forum search for more info on where to mount the thermistor.
i adjusted my norcold by moving the thermistor such that the fridge is 35 degrees and the freezer is 7 degrees with the temp set at 4. if i set it at 5 the fridge freezes. the freezer keeps ice cream frozen hard when set at 4.

Mark, we put in a KitchenAid KSRS22MWMS02. We had some very specific requirements, though. I have my whole AC and DC main cb panel directly under the refrig space, so I couldn't go down too far to put in a higher household fridge like a Samsung. Also DW wouldn't have been able to reach the top shelves. Also, because it's up high, we didn't want a bottom freezer and we needed a double door because of front clearance. I did all of the work myself. Because the refrig is so deep, we had to remove the driver side window to get it in and the Norcold out. I rigged a cable lift from the roof rafters in our barn and with DW's help it went in and the old one out in about 15 minutes after we got set up. I also added 2 more deep cycle batteries, (total of 6), and a separate inverter to run the refrig because we boondock extensively for weeks at a time. That way I don't need to run the house 3000W inverter with it's associated overhead. My only regret is that I should have done the change out when I first started having problems with the Norcold. We did take a lot of time with measurements before we bought to be sure we had the room for the new box and could get things in and out.
