Removing old Shield material on roof

Has anyone come up with a way to remove the old seal material on the roof round front cap back cap and any other place. I want to redo the roof this year and recoat it but before I recoat it I would like to reseal it

A hair dryer or heat gun (not super hot!) and a putty knife to peel of the big chunks. A rag dampened with mineral spirits for the residue.

Do you use the small tubes of dicor or do they make bigger ones or do you use something else

I use Dicor and/or Eternabond tape depending on what I am sealing. IMHO, the best way is to use a fairly thin bead of Dicor to penetrate the seam, let that dry a day or so, then cover with 4" Eternabond. If applied over a clean, dry surface and properly installed, it should give good service for a decade or so.

Be sure to seal the edges of the Eternabond tape with Dicor.
