Replacing carpet with rolled vinyl

We'd like to replace the carpet in our 03 Suncruiser 38G it's long past it's prime. We're thinking of using rolled vinyl but we're concerned about it's durability with our front slide moving over the vinyl.
The shop we've talked to about the job would use carpet on the slide but vinyl on the main floor.
Does anyone have experience with vinyl in this application.
Our back-up plan is either carpet again or fake wood floor.

Vinyl will work great. If you live in the North you should not glue it down though. The extreme swing in temps between winter storage and summer heat can make it crack or split because of the different expansion properties of the vinyl vs. the underlayment. Many of the better vinyl flooring doesn't have to be glued down.
