Replacing rug with flooring
Found this new flooring product made out of vinyl at Home Depot today was wondering if anyone has tried it yet? Attachment 173835
It is only 4.2 mm.thick and requires no gluing or backing thinking about applying it over top of the existing flooring I have now and removing the section that has rugs on it. I figure on the outside edge where the slide rollers are I would bevel that edge slightly, and might even add some glue on the outside prank.
Looking for people's opinions.

We have been thinking about doing the same thing. Please post how it looks after the slide runs across it. Ive seen so many where the slide tears it up pretty bad.

You will have to install small pieces of trim at edges to cover required gap for expansion. Floating vinyl planks from "Shaw" or "Mohawk" will cost more but will last forever! We have peel & stick vinyl planks now and the adhesive is coming loose after just 4 years. Floating style should be fine as long as slides clear top surface!

My slides should clear the front surface because my slides instantly Tip-Up approximately 2 inches as the slides are closing.
I was concerned beans it was a floating floor that the rollers might catch and Slide the whole floor to one side. I was going to glue the side planks down to prevent it from sliding the floor. would just be floating in the center at the widest point the floor would only be a little over 8ft wide so I don't think there would be that much expansion.

Mine tips up as well. But I had looked at the same model as mine that they used sheet vinyl and the slide tore it. I didn't have a close look to see what happened but I have caught my slide pushing my rug forward before it tips up.
Do you guys notice rub marks on your kitchen floor from the rollers? I noticed it the day I got my used rig home. Not sure if they showed up enroute or I didn't notice them before.

We installed allure from Home depot floating plank with adhesive on the edge and ends of each plank in Nov 2009.
This flooring is not holding up well.
Where the slide rests when traveling the surface has worn away exposing white.
The floor scratched easily from the gitgo.
There is a post in the archives of this forum including pics of this installation.
I helped a professional flooring installer install my floor.
I do not recommend allure flooring for an Rv.

Thanks for the info so far.
I have no marks on the existing floor at this time, My concern is I am not planning on removing existing floor, just curious as to the extra 1/8 thickness on the top, the driver side has the carpet that will be removed. I am not planning on removing the carpet ON the slides.

Replacing rug with flooring
Please post if you have any difficulty removing adhesive under the carpet. I am planning on installing the same flooring in a few weeks. Hope all turns out well!

Pappywood,
I used a scraper to sort of level the floor.
I should have done a better job.
The high spots printed through the allure in short order.
I should have used leveling compound.
