Replacing windshield wiper blades - $2 each

On the last road trip, the passenger side wiper blade started coming apart. I was looking at it trying to figure out how the assembly was attached to the wiper arm, and I noticed I could slide the rubber blade out of the assembly.

I made a quick measurement of the blades width, a visit to the local auto parts store where I purchased 2 refills for $4.00. One minor modification to the new rubber and it slid right into the slot of the old assembly.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

Most of the auto parts stores around here don't even sell refills for autos any more. They want you to buy the whole wiper blade.

i couldn't find the refills in my area, ended up getting a pair on ebay for $1.6 last time.
it took a month to arrive from hk.
mine was not a direct replacement though. i had to get the steel strips from a junk yard; but that would be only one time. from now on i just need to get the rubber when this set is done...
