Ressurecting batteries with epsom salts
has anyone tried and had any luck using epsom salts to restore your batteries??? I heard about this and need to try
it, if it works...
Need answers, please...

I think I answere din another family of forums.
Tried it.. Though I would not say it harmed the batteries (Actually on one of them I'm not sure) I am sure it did not make a great improvement, I may hae added a few weeks to their overall life, not much more.
Of course it might have worked better if I'd gotten to it sooner.

The reason that you use distilled water to top up a battery is that small amounts of many extraneous minerals will destroy them. It does not sound like a good idea to add epsom salts.

In the golf cart "world" Epsom Salts has long been used to extend the life of batteries. Those that use it dissolve it in distilled water and then add the solution to each cell. I've never heard of anyone having any long term success but it may get you a month or two

Our OEM Interstate U-2200's lasted a couple months short of 10 years. I added mineral oil and a chemical I got at Harbor Freight that was supposed to act like a desulfation charge. Can't say it worked but it didn't hurt either.

I've read of using Epson salts, but I've never tried it, not sure I want to.
Dunner, Alka-Seltzer won't work, it'll just go 'plop plop, fizz fizz.' What you need to add is PowerAid or Red Bull, that will energize those batteries!

Keep them charged, Keep them clean, Keep them full of water and thats the best you can do and when they start giving you clues they are getting tired its time to buy some more...there is nothing magical out there.
