This may not be the correct term, I am asking about the material that is crossectional shape of U about an inch wide and 1/2 inch tall that is used to cover the seams between the roof and sidewalls on fiberglass sidded coaches.

Ours has lifted in a few places and there does not sem to be any glue, screws or other materials to secure it.

I am guessing there could have been some sort of epoxy a long time ago which has since fell off before we got our coach.

We need to re-attach in a few places, was thinking about SS drywall type screws along with some sort of adhesive then cover with caulking.

Before we start the project we would like to know what else has been tried so we do not re-invent the wheel and have it square...

This molding is secured at the factory with screws. If water has gotten in, you might have wood rot that will have to be dealt with to have a backer for new or replaced screws to bite into. On the top a self leveling lap sealant like Dicor should be used to cover the edge of the molding and heads of screws. Check into the possibility of rot and let us know what you find and then we can help you more.

We have looked and there are no screws in this strip except for a couple that a previous owner installed.

The shape is inverted "U", there are no flanges for screws, the only place for screws is on the top.

The material looks to be a rubber like stuff, same as what is on the top of the coach.

So far there is minimal water exposure, so a little sanding will clean that up, just need to figure out how it was done from the factory so we can at least attempt to correct it in the same manner.

Could this be attached/part of the bottom of the strip (with the screws) that seals the roof to the side walls, which could be for the awning material? Just a thought as mine has one and the awning came off when the previous owner had it , it is damaged where the wind blew it up and over the MH . but it is also a u shape with the opening pointing out.
