Roof questions

Just purchased my first coach knowing it had some roof issues. Question is after repairing the substrate what is the best option for membrane?
Have done some research but have not found a heads up comparison between the products other than the roof a very nice Dutch Star just want to do it right TIA

If you've ever been to Vegas and looked down on one of the casinos from the hotels... all those roofs are EPDM material.... in its natural color.. a light gray... they seem to do well and last.... I've had good results with EPDM roofs... and their easy to install... that's what I'd do...

TPO is supposed to last longer without chalky issues. Brightek is supposed to be the best of the bunch. And application is almost the same for all 3 types you listed, major difference being glue/caulk. Or you could convert to Filon or seamless aluminum if you're doing a true remodel/rebuild.

If placing new with everything off the roof then install labor will be same.

How long do you intend to keep the unit?

Check with ALL manufacturers and get their warranty information.

Confirm how they are covered meaning does the material need to be installed by certified shop or if DIY does it need inspection.

How does one make claim and what is covered and how does it get repaired?

Last is the warranty transferable.

These data will show which material and which supplier has the better life expectancy as a product with a 10 year transferable warranty usually is of a higher quality than the 90 day wishful one.

Suggest building a simple spreadsheet to enter all relevant cost and warranty data then yiu can get cost per Sq ft per year life to determine a value number that may help you decide.

It is a high cost item that you only do 1 time and need to make best choice.

There are many good options but the best choice depends on your expectations and budget.

Resale value also could factor in as roof issues directly impact them so a better roof may be difference in resale.

TPO is lower maintenance (no chalking & streaking) and probably doesn't cost much more.
I don't know much about PVC membrane, but if it doesn't chalk that's a good choice too.

I don't think longevity is a concern with any of them. Even EPDM should last 20 years. How long do you need it to last? Installation is all about the same too.

i used to be a contractor and i many times used products that have a roll on jprimer coat and then a top coat and they stretch like 300% and then we also used the polyester fabric that you put on.. prime then put fabric on when wet the prime over it then let dry then top coat....now on my london aire i just cut strips about 6" wide and only put the fabric on the seems and vent edges ect...then i did just prime all the roof after i did that and top coated..and man you could tell the difference in heat penetration also... works very good..and not to expensive...ace hardware ordered mine and not to expensive..i could go and get mname if your interested in my garage..

beenthere...... I'd be interested in the product name. At your convenience-- no rush. I've been thinking I may want to do something with my roof.
