ok so i have an '83 28ft winnebago that needs a new roof. in the back there are fine pinholes through the material (is this tin, or some rubber/plastic?) and there is a small leak in the front. what can be done? can i replace the sheet? (easy to do? rivets, sealant...) or can i repair it with something? id also assume all insulation has to go, metal frame is rusted but solid...

Chances are the roof on an 83 is metal. The tin sheets can be replaced, but you might also try a roof coating such as Kool Seal. Or use Eternabond tape to cover the pin holes, if they are just in one area. Check local hardware stores for mobile home roof repair coatings - they will work fine on this sort of roof. I's not a long term repair (maybe 5 years?) but is much more in keeping with the value of an 83 motorhome.

One other option, would be to get a company to install the trcuk bed liner system over the exsisting roof. This would be a durable finish that should never give you a problem in the future.
