Bought our MH 6 months ago used as is, put 2200 miles on it. First thing I did was drive it to the repair shop and had them inspected the chassis. Found it needed two ball joints and one tire was bad. Replaced all and have not had any issues since. I have started the 35K miles maintenance. New radiator hoses, thermostat, flush, Grease everything, always something to do in between trips.
I have spent more time going thru and working on minor issues then camping in it. I enjoy working on the MH as much as camping in it. Owning a MH helps if you are mechanically inclined. A MH is a hole you put your money in on land, a boat is a hole you put your money in on water. I have one of each. Some people rather put money in the casinos, I would rather have the MH or boat.
Hope you get the issues solved soon and start enjoying the MH.

We just bought our 2005 Newmar Mountain Aire 3778 gasser. Bought the extended service plan on the coach, not the engine and tran. 3 days later it wouldn't start. the dealer sent a guy out to start it. after the normal things to try and start it, he asked if I had a big hammer. he got under the coach and tapped on the starter as I turned the key. OMgosh! it started. took it to the dealer for that and other things that needed work and it took 25 times trying to start it before it wouldn't start for them. the reason I say that, is that they were not going to replace the starter until it didn't work for them. But, they did step up and pay for the starter, new 3 step steps, window lock, new control box for the TV's. They also replaced the generator with a used one for free. The service contract would NOT pay for these things because they happened too quickly after us taking ownership. Camping World of Tampa took care of us.

We also bought a used DP for about 50K. 6 weeks later we were putting a CAT 330HP motor in it, 18K later we had a motor, head, and turbo and only about 7 days. Lack of maintenance caused the problem. Since then have had a few issues, no air suspension brakes, electrical issue. Air issue was bad dryer due to sucking oil from the bad motor (1k and 2 days). Electrical issue was due to power surge and can't blame the coach (2.5K plus 3 days tent camping in an RV . Insurance covered all but the deductible.
Other than the motor part all other repairs are less than a S&B.
And we are making tons of memories

WTH? Hope reading this stuff doesn't jinx me. I didn't know folks were going through stuff like this? ??
I bought both my Toyota, and my National RV, new in 2005. Both have had identical issues and problems: none, no drama, just use normally, maintain and check stuff occasionally. They remain within a few thousand miles of each other, each getting maybe 5K miles annually.
Guess this one ain't hitting the used coach market!

I think that is the way to go. With a coach you have the problems people mentioned plus it is helpful to have a tow vehicle.
So with a coach you have RV issues and motor issues in one.

The only way to come out "ahead" is to keep what you have and be satisfied. Do all the required maintenance and fix the things that will go bad. It is an expensive hobby, but as long as you are healthy it is the BEST. Sanford

We had a 45' sailboat before the Country Coach. So the motorhome seems almost trouble free compared to the sailboat.
That said, we just got back from our usual summer trip of about two months and coach ran without problems. Seems like once you get the bulk of the problems fixed things settle down.

question, Generator won't turn over at all. Oil level is fine. worked the first day for about an hour. My husband turned the engine on, the generator went off and has not come back on since. Question 1, if it is on house power will the generator come on or will I have to unplug it for the generator to work. Question 2, is there something we are doing incorrectly that is stopping the generator from turning on. As far as we can see, everything electrical is turned off on the coach. Thanks in advance.

Since no one else has replied, i will take a shot. The generator probably cranks off the house battery. Make sure the house system is not switched off, since you said everything electrical is turned off. The generator should crank whether or not you are on shore power. Don't know if you have an automatic transfer box, but if so the box will switch you from shore to generator when it comes on.

You can bet I'll be praying for you. I know problems can sometimes get the best of us but hang in there. We just bought a new Hurricane 27K and are working our way through the break in period. Many small issues but these things are hand made so there will be issues.
You will love it after you get the minor bugs worked out.
Have fun and God Bless!

I agree with 530ktm. We spent over $2,000 right off the bat when we bought our 2005 Winnebago journey on things the dealer said they fixed, but did not. It's one of those things, problems are going to happen sooner or later.. Don't give up. The Journey across this beautiful country is worth it. I saw Mt Rushmore for the first time yesterday... It's worth it!!!

We made it!
Well, we took our first trip this weekend. We did not research the cost of owning and maintaining it but we are blessed and can at least afford most of it and what we can't we will just wait until we can. We made it to Auburn and back safely and being with our kids and grandkids was worth any aggravation we have had. Mount Rushmore and the Grand Canyon sounds amazing and I pray we get there one day. My husband has been talking about it for years. We need a new generator and the electrical system under the dash needs a lot of work and the hoses that connect to our a/c vents were not connected and our backup camera fell off of the dash, kind of funny, just a little. Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement. We do love rving already and as soon as our warranties expire we will probably trade up. Of all of the RVs we saw this weekend I still like mine best. Now speaking of Auburn, we camped three miles from campus. This is a whole other world in itself. Fans live and breathe Auburn football. Very very warm and friendly crowd, can't wait to go back!

it's me again. I have the Guardian RV generator. Problem there is no one in a 100 mile radius that works on them, any ideas?
