RV Plus Flying J / Pilot Card: How To Use

Folks,

I have used my RV Plus Card 5 times in the past month across the USA.

When I swipe the card, it offers me an option page with selections such as Reefer Diesel and Trucker Diesel.

After I select Trucker Diesel I get a cancellation option.

I have to go inside and have the Cashier manually swipe my card.

What am I doing wrong?

It is supposed to allow me to enter my Control Number; Apply 6 cents off the cash price; And allow me never to go inside.

I am sure I'm doing something wrong!

Help, JohnnyB

Are you sure you are not missing the Control Number prompt? I use mine all the time, also selecting Truck Diesel.

Never had a problem with mine. If you have trouble remembering their control number (acts like a password) then you can go on line and change it to something you can remember.

Update

I called the number mentioned above.

The Rep told me the 'Pay at the Pump' feature only works in the gas lanes.

I have to go inside and get it swiped.

No problem.

Discount should be 6 cents off the cash price.

Thanks, JohnnyB

I am thinking you are using the wrong pumps. The PROFESSIONAL (Truck pumps) only offere road taxed or reefer fuel.

The RV pumps (Flying-J) or automtive pumps (Some offer diesel) at the Pilot stations (Same at Js) may give you other options.

Paying inside, always best bet.

Agree on wrong pumps - the rv plus card discount I have had and used without issue for a couple of years specifically states to use the TRUCK lanes , not the car lanes or the rv lanes...

Now, as far as the discount, dunno if I ever get it, because unless u go inside you don't get a receipt (and I never go inside ) after all, we are towing our bathroom !

I use the card at the truck islands all the time. I do NOT have to go inside for anything. Swipe the card, choose "tractor fuel", type in my security code, good to go.

I have never tried to use the card at the "regular" fuel/gas islands.

I've used mine at both without issue. Reefer diesel, of course, refers to untaxed (well, no road tax) fuel and should not be the option you chose

The RV Plus card is good at any PFJ pump. The following is from their FAQ section:

Do I have to come inside and prepay at the truck diesel lanes?

No. Since the RV Plus Charge Card is also a method of payment, you can pay at the pump without having to come inside. This is true for not only the truck diesel lanes, but the auto and RV lanes as well.

More Details Please

BobGed,

Would you outline the steps. I am kinda slow. For example: After I select Trucker Diesel, should the screen proceed to a Code prompt?

Thanks, JohnnyB

I, too, use my RV Plus card at both the RV and Truck pumps with no problem.

If I'm at a Flying J I'll use the RV side. When I go into a Pilot truck stop, I use the truck lanes.

No problems paying right at the pump at both places.

When you choose "Tractor Fuel" the next option is "DEF." If you don't use DEF, press "SKIP" not "CANCEL." That may be the problem.

Rich-n-Linda has posted the correct procedure. Selecting Skip is the key.

HooRay!

Thanks. I bet I did not press SKIP on the DEF screen.
