duner bill, welcome to iRV2.com. Usually a converter does not have an on/off switch. Could this be an inverter with a built in charger? It would have a switch to turn off as far as the ability to put out 120 volts ac from the battery but the older models did not turn off the charger section and could give you the impression the switch may not be working if you have the generator running or plugged into shore power. If you can give us a little more info we should be able to better help you out.

duner bill, this sounds like an inverter not a converter. Can you get me a little more information on this; make, model and info on inside control panel as to what the led's state exactly? Make sure the inverter in one of the basement compartments has the switch on it set to the "ON" position. This should allow you to contol it from the remote panel. Also check some of the receptacles to verify that the inverter is indeed producing 120 volts off the battery bank. Let me know what you find.

heart inverter 20 switch on front is on
panel inside when plugged into 110vac shows 110v input light on
and inverter light on too
the switch on the inside panel is off
as i do not want inverter on when 110v ac is available from house
the on off switch on the panel does not turn orr the inverter light even when plugged into 110v from house the transfer switch outside was humming i pushed both reset breakers on interface of heart 20, both white buttons are loose but i pushed them anyway, bill

With the coach plugged into shore power the charging section of the inverter is keeping the battery bank up. Here is a link to help you with the operation of this inverter: http://www.xantrex.com/support/web/p...docdisplay.asp.
After reviewing this model I have told you wrong on the position of the switch on the inverter itself. It should be in the "OFF" position. Sorry about that.

STILL DID not work as it should

with shore off and batteries switch off
still shows converter on even with inverter switch outside to off

no matter what i do its still converting
bat power to 110v ac

i bet its a switch but not sure were to start
could it be the converter switch box?
as i plug in shore pwr it clicks i guess thats good so for now inverter switch outside is off
it did not change a thing i can see

Bill,

If you are plugged into 110 and both switches are OFF the pannel will show 120vac input, battery voltage and charging amps. The inverter has a transfer switch in it and the AC input just passes thru and goes to the house ckts.

If you are not plugged in and the gen is not running and both switches are OFF the panel will be dark, IE: not lit up. If it is, you probably have a bad on/off sw.

If you have no AC input and you turn the panel SW ON the panel will light up. This indicated the inverter section is working.

Bill, I agree with Jim. It sounds like a bad on off switch. If you can remove battery power from the inverter and remove the on/off switch; disconnect on of the wires on the switch and reconnect battery power. Now check for 120 volts with generator off and not plugged into shore power. You should not have any. If not the on/off switch is bad. If you still have 120 volts produced you have a stuck relay on the circuit board inside the inverter and it will need to be repaired by an inverter repair company.

is the switch the 1 you refere to on the inside coach panel\not the one on the inverter box

then is it easier for me to pull inverter unit out and take it to shop

i hate to take mh to shop
if pulling unit out i feel i can do that

if so have you done that or advise against that ?
