Hello Lori and . We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. I am sure you will enjoy the website and forums. Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted.
If you have a place to plug the coach into shore power and a DC volt meter, you can check to be sure the charger is working. You will need to leave the coach (house) battery disconnect "ON" when plugged into shore power. Check for 13.8 - 14.5 vdc at the house battery bank. Let us know what you find.

Wehave a Safari Serengeti and had the same issue early on. Discovered there are three locations that all have to be off or the inverter is still going. Ours is a 96, there is an on/off switch on the inverter itself, in the closet in the bedroom and next to the driver to turn on the camera. All have to be off or the inverter is going.

Regards

i'm in a safari dp 32' 1995 bought with 25000 miles a peach but but the manual says that cranking for 60 to 90 seconds is not unsual...I would like to install an electric pump any ideas would be welcome....am a loner on wheels new to this site. managed to stay alive lone enough to retire and like RVing around..been at it for 10yrs and on my second RV.first was a FLTWD FLAIR both used am most happy when my SAFARI cranks up in 2 or3 seconds. grinding on the starter takes away the THUNDER of the beast. electric pumps like to push not pull fuel and the tank is about 25' from the injection pump...thegrem0920@yahoo.com ps I get embarassed grinding on the starter...any advice would be helpful..THANKS

Welcome aboard! I would check your batteries for age. Could be they will no longer hold a charge. I just went through the same thing. After checking for things that could draw the battery down I had the battery checked and it was done. It was a big 8d type starting battery and the second to fail on me in 6 months. After reading in my inverter manual they don't recommend starting batteries to be used with an inverter charger. I replaced it with 2- 12 volt deep cycle batteries and they have more cranking amps than the other battery. Hope that is helpful, good luck.

You may have a marginal battery...one that never really gets charged up well enough to last a couple days of non-use. You could test each cell with a battery hydrometer, which will tell you if the battery cells are OK. Another thing you could do is to remove the ground terminal from the battery for the time you are not using it, then reconnect it prior to starting. If it works, you may have a current drain in your coach that is draining the battery when you think everything is "off". If so, then it is a matter of finding out where the leak is.
