I suspect that "new" card holders were put on the fully electronic system with no paper checks. This was the first February that we would have received a rebate. Possibly card holders who had received checks in previous years continued to receive them this year, also.

All I know is that I had called the card issuer (synchrony credit) and was told that there would be no check mailed. Each time we went to Sam's, if we chose to pay for our purchases with our Sam's Club credit card there would be a screen prompt asking something along the lines of "do you want to use the $$$ rebate credit on your account? If we responded in the affirmative, the credit balance was debited for the purchase.

We have had the Sam's CC for years. We have always received a check in February. I asked my wife and we both thought we got a check this year.

I actually check for Sam's Clubs along our route for any trip we take. I then travel from Sam's to Sam's until we get to our destination. Usually they are one of the cheapest gas stations. They are usually easy in and out (I check Google Earth to be sure) and then I get the 5% back.

During the last 27 months and 13,000 miles, we have only gassed up the MH twice at a station other than a Sam's.

Their card used to be limited to only stations that did not have their own CC. There aren't too many that don't. They now allow all stations with just a few exclusions.

Last year I got $700 back in cash from Sam's Club. Went to the club and they asked me if I wanted cash or a check. Cash I said. Once a year deal.

No restrictions on where you use it for cash back except at a direct competitor like Costco.

Am finishing a four month trip so I expect at least a grand this year.

The 5% back assumes you pay the balance in full each month, did you notice the interest rate?

Yep, have had the card for years and never didn't pay entire balance. Reward cards are just for the reward. If you can't pay them off each month for some reason, there are a lot better cards out there.

You get the "check" in Feb that you take to any Sams Club and redeem - they hand you cash. You do what ever you want with it - it's cash.

If there is a $6000 limit that is eligible for the 5% rewards, how are some here saying they are getting $700 back yearly? (Post # 17).

I don't think there's a limit on 3% and 1% rewards. I know that, at present, I will get more than $400 back and there are 3 more months left in the year. The 3% rewards include restaurants and lodging. I charged all my campground costs on the card.

X2 on what doc said.

There is a 1% on, 2% and 5%, each with different rules.

X2 on getting diesel at Sam’s...$0.40-.50 less than FLyJ plus the 5%. Recently got 150 gallons two different times saving $0.42= $63 plus 5%...$18.75= $81.75 each time. I go into a local Sam’s in February and get the refund in cash.
