Schwintek error message

I bought a 2015 forest river Berkshire diesel that uses the schwintek slide motors. I was packing it for our first trip I noticed one of the slide controllers was flashing red 6 times. the controller says that this error message was a shorted slide motor.

the slide seems to work ok. the error message occurs when the slide is extended not retracted.

any thoughts or help would be appreciated

The schwintek motors utilize an extremely small sized wire that has zero strain relief/support where it exits the motor and runs down the inner slide seal. When completely extended the room frame smashes the wiring harness right at the top where the wiring harness exits the motor. It is one of the more common repairs on these. With the room open, if you can reach in behind, pull the seal loose (it just snaps in place) from the top about 12" and inspect the wiring harness connecting that motor. I think you'll find it's been pinched and probably chafed right there.
