Sea Breeze A/C problem

Took my 04 Sea breeze on a 03 Ford chassis to the ford dealer to get the A/C charged and the mechanic was unable to charge it do to what he said was a bad expansion valve. Only problem he did know how to get to the valve to change it. He said it should be right in front but appeared to be hidden behind a wall. How does he get to the valve or is it something I can do myself? Another place told me they could do it, but it would be "time & materials" hate to give them an open check book. Thanks for the help !

Ask for a not to exceed quote. As for the location of the TXV, I would have thought the follow would simply follow the liquid line back from the condenser until it goes inside to the evaporator. Then go under the dash area to see where the line went from there. It should be mounted close to the evaporator. Sounds like the fellows you found were not exactly the sharpest knives in the drawer.
