I obtained a new relacement window for my copilot side window, dual pane type that was seriously fogged. I have learned that Tiffen recommends a factory gasket to seal these windows. I would like to replace the window using sealant similar to that used for windshields and not purchase a perhaps costly custom gasket. I am told that silicone sealant will not hold up in this application. Has anyone used something similar with proven results?

Use butyl tape on the flange of window frame making contact with outside wall.
