Ya, I'm back with another goofy question!! Our new coach comes with a 20' sewer hose, which seems long to me but then I have no idea what I'm talking about.

What would you say is the average length required for most hookups?

I use a rhino hose you can make it as long or short as needed,for a straight shot. I would say average would be 10 it depends on how good the park was laid out.

There is probably no average length you can count on. Most of the RV Parks we have visited you can reach with 20' or less. I have been in places that took 30 to 40 feet. We rarely stay in one location for more than a week, so when we break camp I just move the MH closer and then dump.

I have the Rhino Flex. I think the original length is 20 ft when it is fully extended. I have an additional 10 feet of Rhino flex with appropriate coupling fittings. I have had to use the additional length 2 times in the past 3 years.

You don't need it until you need it.

Like stated, you can always move to dump, then move back to original spot.

I carry 2 lengths of hose and have needed to use both at least once or twice each year. The one I use most often is 20' and the backup is a 15'. Moving the coach before its time to leave would be more of a hassle than having the extra IMHO. I keep them in a plastic fence post that goes across the coach in one of the bays. Out of the way and easy to retrieve or store.

I carry a 20' length and an add'l 15 feet. Use the Blue Line connectors as they are the only ones that will fit in my built in carrier. Usually I don't have to use the extension but I have on occasion.
Kind of like the 30' 50 amp extension cord. I've only used it a couple times, but when I've needed it I've had it.

I have the Sewer Solution from Camping World. It comes with a 10' section of hose and 10' sections are available. I have found that 20' will get me to most sewers. I've read that it will work up to 60' away.

I love my sewer solution. You can have all the 4" hoses.

Be sure to not only have at least two lengths of hose with connectors but also to have the right sewer connections to the parks sewer. In our travels we have had to use the rubber donut where the park had no threaded connection and the 90 degree threaded connection. One park had placed the sewer connection in the wrong spot so that people ran over it every time they parked resulting in a broken pipe several inches below ground. Hopefully we never run into that again!

I've used 30' of hose 3 times in the past 2 weeks. Sometimes it's because of our length (43') which means we can't park in the ideal place or we'd hang over our alloted space. Sometimes it just because we want to park a little further one way or another to get a better view.

I have a pump unit which will pump thru a garden hose, but it is slow. It's a hassle to remember to dump the grey tank after every load of clothes, and stand there for 15 minutes while it does. The 4" hose allows the grey tank to stay open and drain itself with no problems.

Obviously I am of a different ilk, so to speak. To begin with, I never connect the sewer hose when hooking up. .. I only need it once, when breaking camp (mostly). Then, I use a 'standard', ol fashioned 10 foot hose 90% of the time. Maybe the guys who designed this section of my Big Beautiful Bounder figgered it right!
