Just by chance it's not the rotten egg smell coming from the hot water?

I noticed these sewer smells when I was parked in a very windy place, like the beach. I noticed it especially coming from the shower. I replaced my sewer vent cover with a 360 degree sophon vent cover, https://www.amazon.com/Lippert-Compo...ywords=Rv+vent, and solved my problem.

We had that problem while out for a few weeks. After draining the tanks before leaving for a new site I dumped a quart of bleach into each tank. We drove a couple of hundred miles and then used them normally.
We didn't notice the smell after the bleach. I would guess that it killed whatever was creating the odor.

Whatever it is you do, don't start spending money in trying to make the tank smell good!
In 30 yrs, I never did except in the first two...

I believe we were talking about the AVv auto vent valve. The shower or tub does not have one. An s trap is the trap that goes through the floor. A p trap goes through the wall.

Your correct, that is what we were discussing. Not trying to make the tank "smell" good, just trying to get rid of the sewer smell when taking a shower.

Are S traps still used in RV's? They are against code in houses because it's easy to suck them dry.

FACT, the grey tank stinks too. When you shower, you add lots of water to the grey tank, and it expels lots of air as it intakes lots of water. If the roof vent is not working, this expelled air WILL come out, by glugging out the easiest P-trap. THe AVVs should stay closed. Are you positive your plumbing vents are clear? Bees like building nests in there.
Also under my bathroom sink is the anti-siphon valve and check valve for the black tank rinser. The anti-siphon valve opens the high point in the black tank rinser to atmosphere to break any siphon, and the check valve closes the black tank to stop it from smelling up the place. If the check valve sticks open = poo smell. So, next time you rinse the black, squirt some liquid dish detergent into the hose before you hook it to the faucet. Turn the faucet on and flush the soap thru the system, running it long enuff to rinse it out too. This might loosen up these valves and get them working again.

In our motorhome the shower has a hepto valve. If hair gets trapped in it, it does not close properly. We have found that sometimes it will smell, until we clean it out.
Not sure if this is what your MH has.

When you dump it sucking the water out of your traps. Leave it open or go around and run water down all the sinks and shower. I had same problem.

When you dump air should be coming in from the main vent. If water is sucked out of P-traps (tank looking for air) then I would suspect that's one more hint the vent is somehow blocked.
