I thought you said you had a transport broker. I think you need to find another one. That is a pretty lightweight trailer. Even *sounds* lightweight. Doesn't look like any low boy I've ever seen. Deck height on a lowboy is about 15" off the ground-- hence the name. The trailer separates just aft of the gooseneck so you can simply drive the cargo onboard. Construction firms move large tracked excavators and other equipment around on these things routinely.

Yep, you need a removable goose neck lowbed, as shown. Easy on, easy off & no clearance worries.

This is what we use to move equipment all the time, our track loader for example is 52K lbs. The guy who hauls our stuff also hauls M1 Abrams tanks for the Army, no idea what they weigh, but guess they are heavy.

This is what you need, but these guys are not cheap, my guess is it will cost you $3/mile. Since these guys are specialty guys, there is zero negotiating, just be thankful if you find one willing.

My motor home is 12'6" high, if you put it on a 2' high Low boy that would make it 14'6" that is 1 foot HIGHER than allowed by law and you are going to have to have oversize permits and routing.

As to hot to load it.. Find a hill perhaps?

A true low boy you should not be loading more than 1 foot off the ground I think as the front end of the trailer disengages, dropping the bed to the ground, then the front re-engages after loading and picks it up hydraulically. It might work on that kind of trailer, but you may still have total height issues.

Thank you, everyone.

The broker was aware of my request for a lowboy and promised it in writing.
I am pissed that it wasted my day for a 4 hr round trip to meet the truck.
I am glad that it did not get loaded.
I will not be driving it up any more ramps.
I am trying to keep faith in the broker I have paid money to.

As I approached the ramp, my concern was high centering at top of ramp.
I would guess the center of gravity about the height of the floor of the MH, making it 5 or 6 ft off the ground. Thinking that is not good in wind or turns, or a maxed out weight limit on axles and suspension.

The truck was a new Dodge Ram quad cab. How much weight can be loaded on the truck axle? The front axle of MH is over 7000 lbs. I figure all of that weight plus trailer weight is on that truck hitch.

I googled reviews for uship.com and most were good. Hang in there and make sure they understand the size of the coach. I'm sure you relayed that to them already, but a call to their support center might get them moving (pun not intended) for you. JMHO

As far as the Dodge I'll let our weight experts comment on that. Personally I'm not sure why they sent him out to waste your time. Contractors eye's were bigger than his equipment, so to speak.

That for sure is the wrong rig to load a motorhome on. You need to find a drop deck and somebody that knows how to load a truck properly.

No way does that trailer look like it has the capacity to safely haul your MH. It looks like a glorified 3 car hauler, plus your CG would be very high. You need to have it loaded onto the type of drop front construction trailer that the wildirishman did in his picture.

No bids yet from uship but I've been working the site and requesting bids from specific carriers. Selecting them from the top rated and good reviews.

Originally, I had engaged a broker without a deposit and he put it on the load board for $1600, to match a competitor's quote. His quote was $1875. The broker I paid, was the competitor. By the time I paid him, it was $1750, upgraded to expedited. Today the first broker called and had a driver nearby with 40 ft trailer, 3 ft off the ground and knew of the ramp problem but could do it (for $1600). I suggested if he was close. go look at it and make sure, before I could commit. They did and said it was too tall, measured MH at 11' 4". Regardless, I wasn't going to agree to anything except a lowboy. So now there are 2 brokers working at $1750

I appreciate the humor about Home Depot and the flip-flops. I did notice them but forgot about it.

When the broker said this guy's name was Jarred, I thought the same thing. It turns out, Jarred was a dispatcher, not the driver.
