Shower base very slippery
The shower base in our Thor ACE has become dangerously slippery. We've cleaned it with every chemical we can think of, but it is still very slick and is an accident waiting to happen. I've also tried stick on strips but they don't want to hold, probably because the shower base has a textured surface. Does anyone have a suggestion?

There is a paint on type of non slip abrasive I believe you can get at a home improvement store. Prepping the shower base to accept the coating would be a problem.
Or you could just sand the shower floor with 80 grit sandpaper, but I'd ask a few more questions before you did it.

I had a similar problem and ended up with a Walmart $10 bath mat....problem solved..

Tried that, the textured surface prevents the mat from sticking.

Tried them, same as mat. Won't stick. I think industrial strength degreaser, then sandpaper, then marine grade non slip tape from West Marine is the next plan of attack. We've tried all manner of household cleaners. I think it is the nature of the surface that is preventing anything from sticking.

x2 My strips have worked for 10 years without a problem and saved countless slips in the shower.

What make and where did you buy them? I tried some Moen strips from Lowes and they came off after one shower.

We have the same problem with the stick house and the coach. Both have textured floors so most suction cups just won't stick well enough to give a strong base.
I just bought this http://www.amazon.com/Grip-Clear-ant...S/ref=pd_ybh_4 to try but it only arrived just before we left and I haven't had a chance to apply it yet. It did get pretty good reviews on Amazon. Might have to recoat every couple of years.

Find a good bot supply place, they sell special paint to non-slip the decks of boats.
It's available in brush on and aerosol cans, clear and coloured.
Of course the other solution is to merely use any paint approved for the material (fiberglass?) the shower base is made from, then sprinkle a little very clean sand, preferably silica sand for sand-blasting into the paint while it's still tacky but not really wet.
The sand sticks to the surface and makes a very non-slick surface.
