Slide is kaput
I'm so glad for the many posts concerning our earthquakes on wheels. It seemed we were maybe at the end of our troubles with our 2012 Berkshire: inverter and driver-side window (on recall), and blinds missing from rig. We acquired it used at end of October and got away from SLC in December. Everything went okay until the first deep freeze bursting some plumbing. Dreamer that I am... The kitchen slide has something awfully wrong: It makes loud sounds during operation, and the mechanism has twisted so much that a mobile repair says he'll have to cut a rod to get it in completely. We're waiting to hear from Forest River on that one. When we first heard the noise, we put in the slide, and there it's been in for over two weeks, until today for the repairman. One idea out there is that the jacks have not been leveling it, so that it's been off-kilter all along. I'd vouch for that one, based on water running across the floor and doors closing because of the tilt. But it seems the damage is huge. One more item for the shopping list: a level for those iffy moments. And how are they going to fix this one?
