Slide out covers

Last season we were having 'issues' with the covers for the slide outs. They were falling a part while we were camped for the hunting season. We ordered replacement covers, from a supplier that we found on this site. The dealer was real good to work with and the covers were what we expected. We installed them yesterday and they sure a re a lot better. While the install was 'challenging' it was not hard to do. Beside it has been sunny and warm here, so it was nice to be out side.
As usual there is always good information to be found here.

Mine have needed replacing from when I bought my coach. Sun rot mostly. I have just recently ordered replacements so I will be having fun in the next week or so. But I am looking forward to having a nice clean looking set of slide toppers.

Our slide out covers were showing their age, but a hail storm Saturday night finished the aging process. Decided to have our local RV Dealer install the new slide toppers, along with taking care of a few other minor issues. The "bus" goes in next Wednesday, then back to the campground!

About two years ago traveling in Utah one of the slide toppers blew out in the wind and was shredded. We were heading to San Diego so removed the remaining fabric. In National City south of San Diego is UFO (United Fabric Outlet) and we stopped there and bought a similar fabric and color. We went home to Oregon and installed the new fabric. It wasn't all that easy but it also wasn't beyond our capabilities. It does feel rewarding to fix these RV issues without going to a shop and pay high labor rates.

I've found that the toppers degrade when rolled up on the top side. I'd like to find a topper with protective slats that keep the sun off the topper when rolled up. Anybody know where to find them? Thanks!
