I know someone here knows where to start with this problem. My slide out motor (hidraulic) just clicks when I try and slide the room back in. I am on 120 volt ac and everything seems hooked up. It sounds like a car starter that isn't getting a good voltage just kind of clicking. Where to start? Thanks.

If your rig is like many, the slide pump motor runs off the chassis battery, not the house batteries. So, unless your chassis battery is being charged when you are plugging into shore power, that may be your issue. Suggest you start the engine and try the slides.

Our slides have a safety interlock so they will not operate if the ignition key is on. If that's the case with your motorhome, you may need to plug in to shore power instead.

OK here's the deal. The slide works with the engine running but not on shore power? This is the first time this has ever happened in three years. Everything else seems to work fine. Lights, fridge, micro, etc. I checked the battery level and it was a little low but not bad. Any ideas? Is there a fuse or relay that could cause this? It's been fine all summer. Thanks. Scotty.

My slides only work with the ignition switch turned to the ON position, or ACC position. The large slide takes quite abit of current so I always start the engine first. All Fleetwoods are this way. Don't know about FourWinds but would think they might be the same. Like "smlranger" stated above if your chassis battery was a little low or you had a loose connection on either the chassis battery or on the connection to the slide motor this could cause the problem your seeing.

When your on shore power only your system may or may not be charging the chassis battery, depending on the manufacturer. Mine does charge the chassis battery when I'm plugged in to shore power. But I've seen some that don't.

Basically disconnect all the battery cables to the battery posts clean and re-tighten. Also check and tighten the grounds and the +12 VDC to the slide motor and/or to the slide motor solenoid.
