Slide support

I don't see many of the newer MH's using the slide supports that a lot of folks used to have. I am wondering if leaving them out for an extended period(5-6 months) would it be prudent to use them or at least some of the tripod type jacks under the storage bins. Have had them out for 4 months and am waiting to see if the living room one comes in with no problems.

From what I've read they are not generally recommended due to the chance that rig settling after it is leveled could cause undue strain on the slide.

Slide mechanisms are better designed and stronger than a decade ago. Ken is correct, if the RV settles the jacks can do a lot of damage to the slide-out and its mechanism. One company made a support jack that would collapse at a certain weight, which was supposed to protect the slide from damage if the RV settled. They are no longer in business. That is on the level.

Most manufacturers state to NOT use supports under the slide.
