My Slide topper material is, what appears to be, White Vynal with little
re-enforcing threads in it. It is tearing along the sewing threads at the body where it is wrapped around a rod in a channel. This is happening on both ends of the slideout. From wind flapping. I made a repair with white Duck Tape to act as a hem folded over the edge of the material.

The large awning on the passengers side is a canvas material.
The Monaco next to me has good canvas awnings all around with folded over hems, reinforced edges also. For $250K you get good stuff. My slidetopper is A&E.
Does A&E make a GOOD topper material or should I just buy a Monaco MH? DAH.

Who makes their awnings?

I found my answer at the A&E [Dometic] site.
It is an upgraded Woven Acrylic with hemed edges. When this one goes I'll upgrade.

Thanks for the tip. Mine (2002 Dolphin LX) are starting to tear too, so will be looking at replacement material soon.

But I already have the woven acrylic material in my awnings. Maybe that's why mine lasted a couple more years than yours? Our rig gets used over 6 months/year, so the awnings get a lot of wear and tear.

Yesturday, at the suggestion of someone on a forum, I bought 2 "Swim Noodles.About 4 feet long.
I bent them in half and squeezed them under the slide awning vertcally so they pushed the awning up in the middle. This will keep water from puddling and HOPEFULLY make a larger area for the wind to go through. We'll see how it woks.
