Solar panel monitoring light w diode

On top of the Coleman roof top unit is a small solar panel. The wire runs through a monitoring light that has a diode. The light with the diode is missing. I tried hooking up a small light from Radio Shack without a diode. Doesn't work. The light stays on all the time. Where can I find that light with the diode?

Is the MH outside? My light for our small solar panel stays on when the panel sees enough light for it to be working. Not sure that helps you.

Put a diode between the light you installed, and the battery so it will only shine when the panel is producing.

Without the diode in the proper place, the light is using batt power.
