Sometimes Slide, Please help

We have a 2002 Southwindwith two slides Not Hydraulic , but sometimes have a problem getting the Larger of the two slides (Living Room area) to retract, but it is not all the time it will always start to move (A Few inches) in then almost acts as if the motor does not have enough power to bring it in , then once past the point where it has pulled out of the hole (Where it settles in at the same height as the floor)it will pull it in the rest of the way with no trouble. Anyone else had this problem ? The other slide works fine. We are going to be living in this MH as we relocate to Texas and I don't want to be climbing under the rig everytime it wants to act up. Any thoughts ??? Thank You

Would low battery power occur with the engine running and the rig being pluged in to A/C ?

Drive the slideout up onto some wedges as far as you can and not damage the roof and when it is about 8" extended. This will give you room to clean and lubricate the nylon ramp the room has to climb when retracted. Clean all the dust and dirt, then use some dry silicone spray and give it a light coating. While you are at it, lubricate all of the mechanical components of the slideout. This should make the difference, if not, you may check for wiring connections to be breaking down. If these are clean and good then a motor may be getting tired.

Position the slideout about a foot or so from being fully retracted and and put the wedges on nonslip material and continue to retract until the roof of the slideout almost touches the main wall opening. This should give you just enough room to get to the ramp to clean and lubricate from the outside. You may have to fold down any bottom seal for access.

The attached article explains a cure for Power Gear Salon Slide -Out retracting problems. I'm in the process of ordering the replacement bearings described and will attempt the mod whenever the weather permits. I just ordered two new chassis batteries. The current ones are cooked and I suspect they had played a role in my slide not wanting to retract. Hopefully both efforts will remedy the problem.
