Split kitchen sink, white can't get clean!

Does anyone have a white split, 2 sink kitchen sink? Seems like it's plastic??

We have one and I'm going nuts trying to get this puppy clean. It just looks stained and dirty all the time.

The bathroom sink is really no better but it has a yellow tinge to it and is also plastic???

Softscrub - it's about the only thing that really works.

Work some of it on the stains (well all over really) and let it sit for 10 to 30 minutes, then rinse.

Do twice, three times if you need to. We are constantly doing that to ours. Well ours is more like corian or something, but i have the same stuff at home and softscrub there too.

You might also consider gloves - your hands will smell like bleach for days

That is what we used.
Before we discovered it we used a bleach solution that we let soak for a few hours.

The instruction on my magic eraser said not to use it on shiny plastic or painted surfaces.

Try Barkeepers Friend, one of the best cleaner I've used to get rid of strains. You can get it at most grocery stores.

Try using Oxyclean. Mix warm water with a scoop or two of Oxyclean, let it sit in the sink for an hour. Did a great job on our kitchen sink.

I was thinking of just replacing the sinks with stainless steel. So much easier to clean...

is yours molded into the counter top, or is it a drop in?

If it's a drop in, stainless is a no brainer.

Yup, shaz, we have the same sink. It's a plastic made to look like porcelain.

I use Barkeeper's Friend. It gets the stains, as will just about any mild abrasive, but over the course of time it will also dull the gleam of the plastic finish. As the gleam surface is dulled, it will stain a little more easily. Then.... Well, you get it.

My sink is now 12 years old, and I'd love to replace it with a stainless undermount. That would require a lot of counter work, though. I've done kitchens before-- the problem here is I can't find an undermount sink this size, and I don't know how much counter mod is required or possible until I pull the sink.. Easier to go with a rimless drop in.

Yeah! Oxiclean works wonders (got the stains out of my Corian undermount sink, but should work equally well on most surfaces)! And it doesn't appear to damage the sink surface like using an abrasive cleaner (BarKeeper's Friend, Soft Scrub, etc) or bleach can.

Not that it's difficult (fill sink with warm-to-hot water and a scoop of Oxiclean), but you can see a video about it here (this is where I learned this trick):

I have had good luck with denture cleaning tablets. Fill sink with hot water, add 6 to 12 tablets and let it sit overnight.

Good strong Pyrex will do the trick. No elbow grease needed. Little water, rubber gloves to reach plug, let set for a few minutes, nice and white. Not for color other than white, works for toilet too. HAVE good ventilation.
