Without knowing what the 'decoration' was its pretty hard to answer your question.

Likely whatever it was had die in it that was absorbed by the clear-coat they put on aluminum to prevent it from tarnishing.

Once a stain is in the Diamond Shield there is no way to get it out that I have found. I have soaked a stain in mine with Bounty dryer sheets, even a mild solution of Clorox and water. It lightened it but didn't remove it. I am going to have the Diamond Shield removed next spring as mine has developed mold under it in some places. Again, no way to remove that either other than removal.

Is it the actual Diamond Shield product, or are you just using that as a generic name for some sort of clear paint covering? Note that "Diamond Shield" is a brand, and different than a similar product that 3M sells called "Scotchguard Paint Protection Film", or the 3M Paint Defender spay film. And all of those are different than the clear coat top-layer of the paint.

Frankly, I doubt if there is much that will help, but you could try something like Magic Eraser (use sparingly to see if it works without further damage).

Diamond Shield doesn't have much helpful suggestions either:

I would try plastic polish like you get in a headlight restoration kit.
