step actuator

the interior step actuator on my '04 KountryStar bit the dust(second time) this past weekend. Upon examination, it appears that two of the three screws holding the end cap on the motor portion gave out or failed from too much torque.Has anyone else had this failure? I called the manufacturer direct but they said "sorry,thats a proprietary part. You'll have to call Newmar". I'm resigned to that fact now but, just want to know if this is a recurring problem?

We had issues with this motor and mounting a few years back. If memory serves me correctly (sometimes it does and other times it don't) I think it had to be brought forward; closer to the door to prevent too much stress on the design. Newmar should be able to help you with this in part and in a better installation than was originally done. GOod luck and keep us informed.
