Steps and camera on Newmar Essex 2006

I recently purchased a 2006 tomorrow at six. The steps do not automatically come out when the door opens. They initially worked and now all of a sudden they stop working. Any suggestions? Also the camera for backing up and the sides is backwards so it is very confusing to look at. Any suggestions as to how to get it correct viewing?

Do the steps fold in when the ignition is turned on? If so, check the switch at the door base, should be a magnet type, peel a small area of insulation and touch wires. I'm assuming that power comes through a resettable circuit breaker rather than a fuse.
verify power at the control box. Also, it could be a control box issue. Should be able to locate a trouble shooting guide in the library or at the step manufacturer.

As other post said check switch by door first and also see if you have a house battery switch by the door on a panel. It may have been shut off by a foot or something hitting it.

I had the same problem on two occasions and here is what it was.

First time the sticky tape that hold the outer connector on the door came loose and wouldn't make contact with the inner connector to let the steps know the door was open or closed. Replaced the sticky tape and worked fine.

Second time was the house batteries were so weak they wouldn't provide enough juice for the step motor to run. I charged the batteries and finally had to replace them as they were 14 years old. Once I did that the step open and close quickly.

Hope this helps.
