Storing food

Here the story last summer we had an ant problem. Seems that someone left a bag of cookies open in a cabinet (not me this time ). So now DW who hates ants is paranoid about having the same issue next month when we head to Florida. So my question is how do you store your open food supplies? She bought this big weather proof tube must be 24x24x18 wand says that we will keep all our snacks in that with any thing that is open in ziplock bags. To me this is over kill plus I can't even begin to think where to keep the bin so that it is not in the way. Please help

Sealed storage bins. We keep ours in the cab over along with bins for extra clothes, jackets, extra bedding, etc.
