I was just reading about resetting a NorCold fridge and saw a reference to clipping the info and stuffing it in a book. What are some ways to collect such golden nuggets of information and have them available for future reference? Print and save in a looseleaf notebook? Save them on a disk for the computer? What have you had success with? Thanks,

The notebook thing is OK, but I find that it get's bulky because there's too much info so you wind up going to a filing system. Plus, the paperwork get's beat up after a while.

What I like to do is copy them to a computer. Then you can modify them or reprint at any time. For importing data from printed material I use a scanner then import it into Adobe Acrobat (not the free Acroreader version) and make my own .pdf files and save those on the computer as well. All of my Tiffin electrical diagrams are imported this way and any custom wiring I have done get's drawn out in software so that I can easily change the diagram if I change the wiring.

I print the important stuff out for quick reference but the laptop is always with me anyway so I can always find things if I need to. Of course I burn these files to a CD-ROM for safekeeping also, just in case the laptop takes a dump on me.

I think Cruzer's got it nailed down well, but unfortunately, I don't travel with a laptop. So I make hard copies. My black Winnebago Owner's File has expanded to about 15 pounds and is probably 7" deep now!!! But that's what I use (I've got the computer & CDs at at home, just not with me on the road).

We have a hard file case with about 20 expanding file pockets. We use a file folder for each piece of equipment in our RV. Plus we add maps, how-to books, campground info, roadside assistance, etc.

Any time a nugget of info shows up, it goes into the appropriately labeled pocket.

These go with us on our trips.

We keep the information in the trailer so it is always available when needed, and as others have said, we add new information as it comes along. Because it's a wallet style, it doesn't take up as much room as a hard file case does, and is easy to use.
