I'm new to RV'ing and am still trying to figure things out....

I was in Arizona last week and was parked under pine trees. And, during one night of fairly heavy wind, a lot of pine needles fell on my three slide-out toppers. I'm a little too old to get on top of my Sunstar roof to clean the toppers. I was lucky that one of the people I was camping with got up on the roof and swept the toppers.

So the question is, has anyone figured out an easy way to sweep the toppers without getting up on the roof? The Sunstar is 13' tall, and, like I said, I'm just a little too old to be getting up on the roof.

If they're on top of the topper , they'll fall off when the slide is retracted.

Oh, the other problem was that when I first closed the slides, the pine needles were getting rolled up in the topper.....

one way is to get an extension for your brush...
roll in a bit, stand on the ground and sweep it, ,roll in a bit more, sweep it, etc....

I do get on the roof, but not for long.
Light, plastic leaf blower.

get a cheap leaf blower and make an extension out of p.v.c. pipe then you can stand on the ground and clean it off.

Get a long handle broom and sweep them off.

Loose "stuff" will fall overboard when the slide is retracted, but I have had to clear my toppers a time or two when they had a very heavy coating of very wet leaves. I have done it from a ladder with a broom once, and another time with a leaf blower.

Not with my toppers. My toppers are Carefree, and have the hard cover on the outside edge of the slide. As a result, anything on top of the topper gets rolled up in it when the slides come in. The only way I found to get around this problem is to climb up on the roof, and sweep off the slide topper prior to pulling the slides in.

I'd sure like to hear of another way to handle this. This is another case of an engineer designing something that he/she never used or tested, thus it doesn't work.

Black and Decker makes a nice battery powered compact blower that works well. Lightweight and easy to store also. Here is a link to the 36V lithium model and their 20V model that is even lighter.
