If I use synthetic oil can only change every 10,000 miles versus 5000 miles for regular oil.

Mobile1 Extended Performance is marketed to be good for 15k miles so it should be good for 10k miles. Use their Extended Performance oil filter too. If you can get the 10K done within a year, you should be okay. However, most coach fluid changes are done by time. For engine oil that is one year maximum. It matter not if dino or synthetic is used.

Yes you can.

If you get your oil sample analyzed by a lab before changing the oil you can request the TBN result.

That analytic will tell you how capable your oil is of absorbing additional contaminates for an extended oil change period.

I do not know if your engine manufacturer recommends longer intervals for synthetic vs dino oil.

Not many Diesel engines call for 5K oil changes that I know of.
My small ISB is 15K or 1 year.

Probably the same as the OP calls for 5K it probably is also a 1 year regardless of miles under the 5K

Its a gas 8.1, we traveled 10K last years performed oil change three times. Also if I use it in my onan 5500 can I increase the oil changes there also, I put 400 hours on it last year and changed the oil three times also?

I think you are asking if you can reduce the oil changes and still avoid engine damage.

No-one on this or any other forum can assure you that a different schedule will be harmless or harmful.

Oil changes are a precaution. The timing is not absolute.

You will need to forum your own opinion as to what you "can" do if you want to deviate from the manufacturer's recommendation.

If still in warranty, do not deviate.

Oil analysis will help you form that opinion and take action with a better grip on the status of your engine.

My dad told me something.....Oil doesn't wear out, it gets dirty.......Synthetic oil is going to get just as dirty as conventional.

No engine manufacturer will extend the owners manual oil change interval, regardless of oil type.

The answer depends on the oil.. There are TWO as far as I know that are actually synthetic,, Mobile 1 (At least some versions of it) are on that like.. Amsoil is the other.

Most of the others are really Dino Oil that has been very highly refined, it is better than "Regular" but it is also natural oil.

you dont have enough oil in a gasser to extend the oil change interval. Diesels have 5 gallons+, gassers have a gallon and a half+/-. Thats the primary reason.

Blowby in a gasser dilutes oil much faster than what happens in a diesel. Gasoline is pretty much a solvent when you compare it to diesel fuel. Thats the secondary reason.

But use synthetic in the gasser anyhow, it's better oil. Rotella T6 is also a full synthetic.

well slap my forehead. Turns out even walmarts synthetic is full synthetic too.

Read again. It says full synthetic base oils. Base means that is what they start with. Mobil one is full synthetic.

Synthetic has some benefits in certain applications for better MPG, too but likely not something that we would notice.
