Tape residue on carpet

Previous owner had rubber runner covering carper, held in place with very strong tape. Any ideas on how to remove VERY stubborn, sticky residue from carpet? Cleaners I've tried so far remove a bit from surface but not deep enough into fibers. Dirt just accumulates on tape spots within a few weeks.

denatured alcohol, toothbrush, tweezers, and magnifiers. Sometimes the alcohol will take the glue off, sometimes it just makes it easy to roll up into little globs and pick off.

I'll give that a try. I hate to hire Stanley for a 8 feet of tape. The carpet is in great shape because of the runner, but walking on stiff plastic takes some of they fun out having a really nice MH. I'ld rather take our shoes off. :-)

Try a product called Goof Off. It is made for removing glue, paint, gum, and other sticky substances.

If it's petroleum base, you might try cigar lighter fluid.
