Thanks to some idiots setting off illegal fireworks this RV owner in Tucson is without his motorhome anymore. The rv was parked in a storage lot and people set off fireworks just to the south of the storage lot.

The real idiots were the ones in the State Legislature that legalized the sale of fireworks. Yeesh!

Around here the fireworks were always legal, now the gov't is sticking their noses into that too.

I wish fireworks would be made illegal except for professional displays by licensed handlers.

Once we were parked in a private campground and some of the long term residents were popping firecrackers which switched to bottle rockets and roman candles. The aerial stuff was landing on the roof our NEW motorhome. I finally went to the park owner and told him he needed to shut it down or get them pointed away from my RV.
He shut them down since it was a danger to his other residents.

The shooters did not like it one bit. Fireworks in the hands of idiots are bad.

I recall reading a book on some kid playing with firecrackers when I was in school... I suspect I don't have to spell out what happened.

News this week in Detroit is about the adult who bought some kind of firework that went in a mortar, I can't tell you too much about it but the model is, apply enought "Kiss of Death".

He bought a box of 24 (With one launcher) and, I very strongly suspect, did not wait long enough between launches, Just as he touched his match or lighter to the fuse KABOOM.. Call him Stubbs, cause half the fingers on one hand.... History.

One time at the dunes, my "buddy" threw a M80 at my 5er. I was inside and part of it shot into my 5er. As I was cleaning it up on the floor, I felt something hot dripping on my head. I looked up and the AC vent foam filter was on fire and the plastic vent cover was melting and dripping on me. I grabbed the extinguisher and put it out.

Being a toy hauler, I opened the rear door and used my leaf blower to blow the dry chemical out the back. I had to order a new cover, but did get my buddy to reluctantly pay for it.

I watched a neighbor with kids throw a spinning fireworks thing across the street and it went under a car parked there.

Spun around and hissed, etc for about 15 seconds under the gas tank and then went out.

When I was a kid they use to attach the rockets to blocks of wood and run them in the trolly tracks to see who would get one to go the furthest. The winner had his follow the track to the switch and down the spur to the front entrance of the hardware where the fireworks display was located puting it right back where it came from. I was sure glad that I was not a participant or even close by at the time.

Personal fireworks were quickly outlawed right after that. Eliminated a lot of injuries and fires. They should be regulated and the handlers licensed with mandatory refresher courses to maintain the license to handle these explosives.

Maybe we should let the government run our health care system too, or ban firearms because they are "dangerous" or outlaw cars because people get in them while intoxicated and drive and destroy lives, or maybe we should just ban alcohol instead...seriously, grow up.

I don't see how you can compare these things? Really? Compare healthcare and firearms to jackasses being careless with fireworks? What if there were people sleeping in that motorhome? Or how many wildfires are started when people use fire works during a burn ban? Laws need to be in place to prevent some law abiding citizens from doing idiotic things.

Injuries and losses are a tough go, I've had a few. And I feel for those who are hurting.

However, passing a new law to protect us against every little thing that can happen will create a pretty tame and unimaginative society.... I think we should foster a stronger sense of personal responsibility in our families. That could be a real game changer, but it seems we're going the other way. Just hangin' my opinion out there....

My Stationary Engineer cousin got fly ash on his pant leg and got second and third degree burns. His roomate in the burn unit was there because he got burned with fireworks. Adults behaving badly!!

No law can cure stupidity or lawlessness.

A law breaker will still be a law breaker no matter how many laws are passed.

Aren't there laws against drunk driving, yet every day people get killed by drunk drivers, same with anything. Did prohibition work to eliminate liquor and killing over it's control?

You are missing my point....the majority of people do follow laws. Can you imagine what the country would be like had drinking and driving not been illegal.
