Ticking hour meter angers guests. Can I get a non ticker??

Hi
I have an Onan Microquiet genset and it has a on/off switch and hour meter which ticks as it turns. It is situated at the head of the fold out couch/bed and it keeps them awake. It is loud. They force us to sleep without the genset and AC in terribly hot humid Florida weather!
Has anyone replaced theirs with a digital one? Can it be done?

I would consider replacing the guests.

That is a simple solution!

But, you can also consider taking the clock out of the control panel & putting it in the Generator box. PS- there probably is a digital clock that would fit in the panel.

Let me get this straight........

The hour meter ticking is louder to them than the generator and A/C running is?

OK J Birder I'll come clean... It is an in-law that is bothered. Wife's sister. Your solution is elegant in so many ways but not possible.
Murf2u: The genny is like magic fingers since it is below the bad and the AC is white noise. To me both good for sleep but the meter clanks more than ticks. It is inches from the sleeper's head and seems to disturb whatever demons lurk there (did I say that??)
Deny: Pure genius and simplicity! So all I would need is to hopefully intercept the wires from the geny to the run/stop/ counter switch, move the counter down into the genny box and then buy and install a run/stop switch and put it in parallel with the one I moved! Not hard to do at all! Thanks. Of course it would still be easier if I could find a digital unit. I'll do some looking just in case.
Don't any of you guys have in-laws??

Newer digital hour meters are silent. You should be able to find one that fits. Or order a compatible remote panel from Onan.
