Tire Covers - How to Use Them?
Hello Everybody...
The sun can work a number on tires.
I know that many of us cover our tires when our RV's are in storage or when you will be parked for longer periods of time at a campground, etc.
My question is this: How long before you cover your wheels to get protection from the sun, etc.? Do you cover them all them time when on the road (Well, not on the road but when you are stopped at someplace on the road. You get my drift!)? After a couple of days? Only if you are in one place for a week or longer?
Or is it only really something you do when you store the RV?
Would love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks

If more than a two day stay anywhere, I'll cover them. Too expensive to ignore.

I cover them whenever we are giong to be in one place for more that a couple of days.
I also use Aerospace 303 protectant on them as an extra protection. Its rated SPF 40.

Our MH is parked under a metal building that is semi open on one side at our property. When we're at the homestead, I always keep covers the side that gets the morning sun. When were on the road, I don't bother with them at all. Call me lazy. They just get dirty and muddy at the places we go so I just leave them at home.

Always cover tires at home. Seldom on the road since we don't usually stay at one place for more than a day or two.
Edit: I believe the tire covers really work. Our 6 year old Michelin tires have little or no sidewall cracking.

Any place when over 2 weeks.
The G670's are now 10 years old this month and no cracks.

If we stay anywhere longer than a day, we cover the tires. It takes about 10 minutes. Best of luck and happy RV'ing

I cover mine anytime it is setting. Does not take long to put them on.
I also have covers for the wipers and mirrors. I usually do not use them unless it is sitting for several weeks.

My tire covers are kept in a bag in the back of my workshop. They stay there year around and seem to be working fine. My tires were replaced at 8 years and the new ones are also in great shape starting their third year.

That's my criteria also...two days or more in a CG. Inside storage at home, so I don't need them there. Also I put 303 on them.

Tire covers are for preventing UV damage? Who knew.
Just kidding. I use mine when parked for an extended time. Mostly to keep rain spattered dirt from getting on the tires and wheel rims.

I use mine whenever I am stopped for a full day and they are only a few minutes to snap on as they are screens that snap onto the coach, not the type you put over the tire
