Wondered what everyone thought about the value of tire covers. Heard from somewhere that new tire sidewalls weren't as affected by the sun as old ones.

I have used covers since I bought ours 4 years ago. I only use them on the south side of the MH. Someone stole 1 of ours, why just 1? I'll never know. I have to believe that they are beneficial.

Taking care of the tires is just so important ... and tire covers are pretty inexpensive. We carry a set and a couple spares. Use them every stop unless we are well shaded. Just part of the set up routine, I guess. /ken

We do not use them as the MH has a garage and 303 is used regularly. Different story if kept outside

I had a 20 year old Monaco I purchased and it didn't come with them. I had it 5 years with those same tires with no problems. I've never used them on any vehicle including my '86 Jeep toad. I do use the RV occasionally so maybe the use just makes it work like other vehicles (cars) we all own that are older but have no covers.

I don't use them on my 2014 Bounder because based on that it seems to not be necessary. So far so good and I save time and money.

That's just my experience, maybe others can explain where they've had problems if they don't use them. I do sometimes wonder about things on here that are like the joke where you make a funny motion with your hands and tell kids it keeps away elephants. When they say "really" you say "you don't see any elephants around here do you?"

I look at the covers in 2 ways. 1) to help protect the tires from UV rays etc. 2) to cover the big black tires up, our rigs color is silver and it just looks better with the white tire covers on.

I use them as projection screens for my Mr. Christmas Holiday Projectors.

However, That said... I'm not convinced they are that good at stopping UV... STill, I have them and they look nice. Use them when I'm long term parked as I am now with a blown engine.

You can get a set of 4 "designer" covers for about $50. The 22.5 Michelins on our MH are about $575 each. That is enough to convince me we need them. If we are parked any more than a couple of days, the covers go on.

IMO and experience "quality tires" need no covers. (but Michelins do).

I "retired" one set of 6 9R 22.5 Goodyear G159 tires at 8 years old and another at 7 years.
Those Goodyears had never been covered, and where in perfect condition.

My current set of Michelin XZEs are only 3 years old and the sidewalls are cracking!......like this:

Needless to say I am more than disappointed with Michelins... (the "best tires in the world"??)

We have been using them for about 7-8 years. Small cost to pay to help tires last longer. Also as others have said the white color just looks better.

The trim, awnings, Maxxairs, accents, etc., on our MH are all black, so we went [naturally] with BLACK tire covers. Previous rig had white - seems like they got dirty pretty easily. But now that I've gone black...
