Tires worn out at 10k

I bought this coach last August with about 6,000 miles on the odometer. Tire pressures were in the low 80s which agrees with the sticker numbers for this coach.

Now at 10k the front tires are toast. The rears appear to be showing normal wear with 9/32 tread left. Both fronts are about the same with wear on inside and outside and 3/32 left in the middle. Pressures are 82 +/- 1

It’s a 2016, Winnebago Sunstar 27N with just over 10,000 miles.
Tires are Goodyear 245/70 19.5.

Appreciate any thoughts on this.

Hank

Get that rig to an alignment shop asap

and get some front tires on it. I can not tell you what is out of spec but those tires should have been good for at least 40,000 miles. My tires still look new at 13,500 miles.

Tires need more air. Running with low air pressure wears out the outsides first. Too much air wears out the inner tread. Just right air pressure has even wear across the tread.

That wear is bent tie rod wear.

Inflation isn't going to tear the tread off is 10,000 miles.

To the OP.

On the left side of your picture, you can see the tie rod end.

The rod its hooked to goes across to the other wheel. See if its straight, it should be.

Bought used at a lot? Maybe the crooks at the sales lot swapped those tires from a rig with 40k on it. But yeah, stick a fork in 'em, theyre done. Alignment is a good idea, and weigh it as well. Personally, I run my OEM sized and weight rated tires at the sticker pressures.

The ends look ok to me, at least nothing obvious.

Opps, you meant the bar, not the ends. I’ll see if I can find a way to see if it’s bent.

We stretched fishing line across the bar, top, bottom, front and back.

No gaps, so if that’s a good test, I’d say the bar was straight..

Measure from inside to inside of the tires, at 3 O-clock and 9 O-clock.

The tires should be pointing in, about 1/8 inch. So the measurement will be a 1/8 longer behind the axle.

It looks like bad alignment to me. When you get the new tires, buy them from a shop that can do an alignment on your rig. They'll be able to tell you right away what the problem is.

You can measure and adjust toe-in your self.. Here is a short article I write.. You need a nice flat surface.. If you are going to use a couple straight pins, measure the rear first, then pull forward slowly and then measure the front..

Too much camber will also create that type of treadwear. I'm betting on both camber and under inflation.
Not sure what front axle that you have other than a beam, but if it is that bad, a heavy truck alignment shop is in order. IMHO, try to find an independent shop with a couple of trucks in the lot from local large companies. If they use him, he is probably good. As somebody mentioned, those tires may have been switched. Make sure that the front and rears are the same brand, size, and have the same date codes.
