In many states it is the laww. Go to one of our sponsors website (Blue Ox) and they have a state by state listing of the laws for this matter. I always have mine (BrakeMaster) connected and it has saved me from plowing into idiots two or three time already.

just got back from the brakemaster website and it says you must have power brakes for it to work.
This inplies that your toad must be ideing while you travel. Right or am I mssing something.
If the toad is idling it would solve a problem with my Caddy that can't be towed 4 down unless the engine is running or there is an auxilary circulating pump installed.

IMHO - yes. We use the Brake Buddy with break away and remote sensor to the MH to tell me when the FROG brakes are being applied. I will not tell you it is the best because I have not tried any of the others.

Absolutely! I have the BrakePro. Would feel very unsafe without it.

Gordon23, I think that the Brakemaster is designed for vehicles with power brakes. If you were to install it on a vehicle that does not have power brakes it would be too aggressive and actually lock up the brakes. Most vehicles today have power brakes and that is why they have designed the pressure ratio to the specs they do. This does not mean that you need to have the engine running; just the opposite. You would not want to have the vaccumm assist of the power brakes. Installion and use of the system stipulate that you push on the toad's brakes a couple time to bleed off the vaccumm so it won't lock up the wheel the first couple time you would apply them from the coach. The system is directly proportional. This is the second vehicle (toad) that I have had this system installed and am very happy with it.

RE; Supplemental brake system for toads. toweds.
I've used a Brake Buddy since 2000.
It does the job as it is supposed to.
Minimum changes/additions to toad; Run wiring from grill to driver side for break-away switch.
Other vehicle can have break-away wiring so the BB can be used in them to.
When you first get it, set up takes about 10 minutes, if your co-pilot helps by handing you the unit while you're kneeling on the ground ,getting ready to put BB in vehicle to connect to brake pedal and wiring for break-away and transmitter that lets you know when BB has toad brakes on. Co-pilot also can go back into motorhome to try lights, directionals, and brake lights.
Time shortens with experience, but don't rush ,because there is o lot at stake here and it's better to be thorough than fast..
