Heres a first for me.Got a letter of violation from ez-pass NY. We were on the thruway last month and I guess the MH didnt get recognized. They did ,however, get a pic of my motorcycle trailer and accused me of being a non paying offender.I sent them a copy of my transponder reciept and number and a check for the amount minus thier $25.00 administrative fee.

Frankie,

Did EZ-PASS respond yet?
I'm curious if they accepted the proof you offered, or if you were held guilty as charged.

There is also a $2.00/month administrative fee. You give them your credit card number and set a "replenish" limit, say $25.00, and they will automatically pump up your account to say, $100--- for an occasional user like me. I use the services twice a year for my summer migration up into Maine and back. Its a wonderful trip with out the aggrevation of stopping all the time and dealing with loose change.

I too was cited because they mis-read my license plate number on my "toad" in '06 -- they read a "zero" (0) as a "D". A phone call squared it away. I also recently changed license plate numbers, gave them the new info, and it was effective when she typed it into the computer as I was talking to them.

Go for it-- it's a win, win situtation

I called and got the automated telephone system. After 5 minutes of pressing various # buttons I got a message that said first time violators are waived the fee of $25.The rate I paid was what I would have paid if they got the MH plate on camera. No harm no foul. Will let you know if it doesnt fly.

When i called Pa EZ Pass to get a transponder for my MH they wanted the weight of my unit. When I said 22,000lbs thay told me anything over 19,000lbs required a commercial EZ Pass.
$100.00 for the transponder and $5.00 a month plus tolls.
I'm thinking about using the one from my pick up and seeing what happens.

New York has a special rate for Motorhomes, including over 20,000 lbs, and charges you at the car rate if you use EZ-Pass. You need to submit a form and send in a copy of your registration to apply.

I would ask Pa if they have special rates for Motorhomes as NY does.

You don't need to use the manned lanes with a toad. I had two transponders for my MH, one for alone and one when I was towing. Used the easypass lanes with no problems.
I've gone back to a fifth now and still have 2 transponders for the truck.
