Took the rig for a shake down drive today

Taking a trip down to the gulf coast tomorrow, and thought we would take the coach for a shake down run today, and maybe pickup some cheap diesel at Buc-ees if it really was $1.93.

Well, it took us well over an hour to get out of the park.

First thing, step wouldn't retract. Step cover went out, but wouldn't retract either. While working on those, I discovered an air leak in the generator compartment. And, just to make things interesting, the fridge wouldn't work on propane.

After checking all the electrical, tried a little percussion technology on the entry step. Started working right away, and ever since. Step cover was about the same. Just manually cycled it a few times and it started behaving itself.

The air leak is small. Still a problem, but will look into it when we get down to the coast. Some good friends there to get help from.

The fridge, well, it started working all by itself, so keeping an eye on it, but I am thinking I need to take this thing out for a walk more often.

Oh, and the diesel was $1.93 a gallon, so all's well that ends well.

Souns like a "Test and Tune" day to me. I assume you meant 2.93 for the diesel. Good liuck and safe travels down to the gulf coast.

Wouldn't it be nice if propane was 1.93 a gallon.

I love that percussion technology. I my first, and last recourse. I just didn't know it had a name...

Scotty;

No, $1.93 is correct. "Buc-ee's" on I-35 in New Braunfels, Texas. More than a buck cheaper than any where else in town.

Should actually read what I write before I post it. Propane should read diesel!

In college I had an electronics text book that contained these words in the chapter on troubleshooting:

"The first thing one should when a piece of electronic equipment fails to operate properly is deliver a sharp blow with the heel of the hand to the top, front, back and sides of the unit. Many times this will restore normal operation."

What I didn't know was that this procedure had a proper name...Percussion Technology.

How about that...learn something new every day! ;-)
