We have a 2004 Winnebago Brave and we have tried to eliminate white knuckle driving. We have installed new shocks, sway bar and a rear stabilize bar., All has helped but you cannot take eyes off road for a secong you wander all over., anyone else have a solution to this problem. We speak to every Brave owner we see. They have the same problem or no problem at all. Thanks Snooky

What chassis do you have? Also, what are you calling a sway bar? If it is the anti-roll bar, you need them on the front and rear.

A big thing that effects driving, is the load distribution. Have you had the coach weighed and adjusted tire pressures base don load? Next, you need to get the front end aligned with the coach loaded for travel.

And what sort of driving problem are you having? Steering wandering (seems to drift to one side and then the other)? Fidgety steering (frequent but small corrections)? Lean or sway when trucks pass?

One common cause of "white knuckles" is the driver. You ned to make your focus well down the road rather than rihgt in front. If you are focusing on the road close to you, YOU will constantly overcorrect and create the very problem you are trying to cope with. Looking further ahead will give your eyes greater perspective and you will automatically drive straight toward that far away point.

My F53 chassis was a handfull at first, new toyo front tires made all the difference in the world, from 2 hands white knuckled to one hand and relaxed.

Is this a gas coach? What is the hangover from the rear axle centerline to the rear bumper? Where is the water stored? Did you buy the coach new? The most neglected item on any vehicle is tire pressure. Run the tires at maximum pressure (found on the sidewall) for the best performance for wear and handling.Stay in touch, we want you around a while.

I had a 2000 model 32ft Adventurer on the workhorse chassis that was a handful to drive in a straight line until I installed one of Supersteer's Track Bars. It made a day and night difference.

A rear pan hard bar (track bar) will help alot. The rear axle will track the road, even if the MH is trying to go straight. With rear leaf springs, the lenght and large spring bushings allow the axle to shift side to side, which in turn try to move the MH over the axle. This may be you white knuckeled problem. Duh... Read sammie reply! But I agree 100%.

If you want a more specific response from this forum, you'll need to supply us with the model (i.e. 34D) and the chassis type (i.e. Workhorse or Ford). In addition, had the motorhome been weighed and if so, have the tires been adjusted to compensate for the actual weight? Thanks in advance.
