We are getting ready to start traveling once again, been 4 years since we have been able to get away. At the time we had a travel atlas for the US that contained campgrounds, Flying J and walmart locations. Been looking for a couple of weeks and can not find anything remotely like what we have but is outdated. Anything like this available now??

Thanks

Ron K.

Ron,
We picked up a truck drivers atlas at a local truck stop. Not cheap but has fuel stops, bridge and low clearance info and almost too much information most of which we may never use but it is the best resource we have found.

Good luck..Jack&Rita

The Rand-McNally Road Atlas that WalMart sells has WalMart and Sam's Club locations (but not FJ or campgrounds). The price is only $5.97.

There are a couple of books available that show what services are available at interstate exits. These can be used to supplement any map information in the atlas. The names of the book change as different publishers take over. It used to be called "Exit Authority", I seem to remember one called "The Next Exit", and the one we have now is called "The Ultimate Travelers Exit Guide" (2007 Edition). We pick up a new version every few years at an RV rally or RV show, but you might be able to find one on Amazon.com or even at your local book store in the travel section.

We use DeLorme Street Atlas mapping software for trip planning. You can download custom points of interest for many categories including WalMart, FJ, campgrounds, state parks, Cracker Barrel, etc. The price of the software is $39.95. Of course, if you want to take the DeLorme maps along on your trip, you need a laptop computer.

You may be referring to the Trailer Life (Good Sam) RV Road Atlas, which lists campgrounds and RV-friendly service centers.

We enjoy using the FMCA Atlas which identifies the location of Flying Js, Cracker Barrels, Walmarts and Sam's Clubs.

This Atlas plus the Next Exit and The RVers Friend make excellent travel resources.

We have Next Exit and a Road Atlas for each state we plan on visiting but there is one book that I wouldn't be without while driving in the the Western part of the U.S. and that is Mountain Directories West (they also have one for the East). I wouldn't plan a trip without one, has saved us numerous times.
