TST battery replacement-still beeping?

Hi guys. I have the TST 507 system with the non-flow-through sensors. I got a dead battery alarm on one of my toad sensors, replaced that battery, reinstalled the sensor and I still get the dead battery alarm. I turned off the master screen, turned it back on, and I still get the alarm.

Brand new energizer 1632 battery.

Do I need to resync the sensor? The manual says nothing about that--only that the alarm will cease upon new battery.

The most likely explanation is that you replaced the battery in the wrong sensor. The monitor doesn't know where each sensor is actually located, so it reports based on the assigned tire location. If the sensor was accidentally moved to a different tire position, the monitor might say "Left Rear Tire battery failure" but the sensor with the bad battery is actually on a different tire. You might want to have the monitor re-learn all the sensor locations (re-program) to make sure the reported location matches the actual.

I would first try to resync the sensor and see if that works. Note that it does take it a minute or two to reset. If that doesn't work, give the folks at TST a call. They are usually very good to work with.

If the above suggestions don't do it, the sensor may have gone bad.

TST as excellent customer service if it did.

I agree with the advice given here. We had a sensor with a similar problem late last year. I sent it into TST for repair. A few days later a new replacement arrived in the mail at no charge.

Thanks guys. I bought 3 more new batteries since they are likely due to fail any day now. So I will replace the other three and then resync so I'm certain i know which are assigned to which tire. I do try to be careful about that, but it's certainly a possibility that i switched a couple inadvertently.

I agree about TST's customer service. They can't be beat! But I don't want to bug them unless I need to.

:-)

Gary-thanks for the suggestion that I inadvertently changed the wrong battery. I changed the other three and reprogrammed everything and all sensors are reporting now. :-)

Has anyone measured the voltage when it says "low battery"? It seems like they are very picky and if the voltage is not above 3 volts you have a problem. The sensors seem like they do not utilize a good portion of the battery power.

I didn't bother measuring mine, but I bought the system and immediately installed on my motorhome. The sensors remained in place and I just replaced the batteries last month - after over a year. I've been told that the sensors will continue to work so long as there is pressure on them, so I'm happy with the battery life. I got replacement batteries online - 20 batteries for $10.99 and free shipping.

Yeah, that is a super low price. I paid a $1 each for Energizers at Battery Junction and I am happy.

Yeah - went to Walgreens and they wanted $6.88 per battery so I went home and started looking online. Found a place called stockedinusa.com that had them for $10.95 for 20 batteries with free shipping. Ordered them on Jan 9, they shipped on Jan 11, and arrived at my front door on Jan 14 - excellent service!

Alan--nice find. When they arrive, if you don't mind, tell us the expiration date that's printed on the package.

I don't see an expiration date - the package says "Eunicell CR1632 3V Lithium Battery 120mAh" - probably made in China!

I figure even if they only last 6 months for the price I can put up with replacing them more often!
